Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

The Rays did well against the Toronto Blue Jays over the weekend, winning in a sweep 1-0, 3-2, and 4-3. After a 2-1 loss to the Tigers in their opener, on Wednesday the Rays fell 7-1. Zack Littell posted 4.2 innings and three earned as a starter.

As a starter for Thursday, the Rays are sending out Tyler Alexander. This year Alexander is 6-5 with a 5.35 ERA and 84 Ks.

Reese Olson will start for Detroit on Thursday. So far Olson is 4-8 with a 3.49 ERA in 21 starts. Over 42 career games (39 starts) Olson is 9-15 with a 3.74 ERA. The Tigers will take on the White Sox after this series.

Tampa Bay Rays vs Detroit Tigers Prediction

I might try the Tigers here. Probably not touching it, though. Olson had a rough outing versus KC in his return on September 16, notching four earned on four hits and a walk in 2.1 frames. In his last outing versus the Orioles, however, Olson put up 3.0 innings with one earned on one hit and a walk.

On Wednesday the Tigers had a pretty nice offensive outing with almost everyone contributing to the action. Detroit used five arms out of the bullpen in a solid overall pitching effort. If Olson can get off to a good start here the Tigers will be set up nicely.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Detroit Tigers -145
