St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

St. Louis played the rival Chicago Cubs over the weekend and did fairly well. The Cardinals lost 5-1 on Saturday but won the other pair 3-0 and 2-1 for a series victory. On Monday versus the Marlins, the Cardinals powered out a 12-inning win 7-5. Starting pitcher Sonny Gray lasted 7.2 innings with two earned on five hits and two walks.

For the starter gig in the Tuesday game two the Cardinals are sending out Lance Lynn. This year Lynn is 2-3 with a 3.75 ERA in 14 starts. He’s got 68 Ks in 69.2 innings total. Lynn is 138-98 with a 3.74 ERA in 355 career games (331 starts).

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

Over on the Marlins’ side, they played the Washington Nationals in their last series and struggled mightily. Miami lost all three of those games 8-1, 4-0 and 3-1. On Monday the Marlins were out-hit 10-8 in the defeat. Braxton Garrett managed 6.0 innings in the start with one earned on five hits.

It’ll be Roddery Munoz in the starter slot for the Marlins on Tuesday. This year Munoz is 1-2 with a 4.56 ERA in five starts. He has 27 Ks in 25.2 innings during his rookie campaign.

Cardinals vs Marlins Injury Notes

St. Louis Cardinals vs Miami Marlins Prediction

I’ll stay with the Cardinals I suppose. Lynn hasn’t been spectacular over his last two outings, though; he’s given up seven earned in 8.1 innings in that pair. As for Munoz, he’s coming off 6.0 clean frames in a no-decision versus the Mets but had 10 earned in 8.2 innings prior to that.

On Monday the Cardinals got a great start from Gray and only had to use four pitchers total in a lengthy game. The Marlins, conversely, used eight different arms to finish. St. Louis should be in better shape pitching-wise Tuesday if Lynn can set the table.

Andrew Jett's Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -145
