St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

In their weekend set the Cardinals took on the Kansas City Royals. St. Louis won 8-5 Friday then dropped the Saturday matchup 8-3. Following a 6-1 loss to the Reds in their series opener, on Tuesday the Cards posted just four team hits in a 4-1 loss. Starting pitcher Erick Fedde lasted 6.0 innings with four earned runs.

Starter for Wednesday will be St. Louis’ Kyle Gibson. This year Gibson is 7-4 with a 3.99 ERA in 22 starts. Gibson is 111-104 with a 4.50 ERA in 322 games (316 starts).

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

Over on the Reds’ side, they played the Milwaukee Brewers in their last set. Cincinnati lost the first two games 8-3 and 1-0 before staving off the sweep with a 4-3 Sunday win. On Tuesday the Reds got 7.0 innings with one earned run out of starter Hunter Greene.

Carson Spiers will start for Cincinnati on Wednesday. This year Spiers is 4-4 with a 4.45 ERA in 13 games (eight starts). Spiers is 4-5 with a 4.88 ERA in 17 games (10 starts) in his career.

Cincinnati Reds vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll take a stab on St. Louis. Gibson is pitching pretty well these days despite a rough record. Over his last three starts combined Gibson is 0-1 but he’s got a decent line with 18.0 innings and eight earned runs. As for Spiers, he’s coming off a loss to Milwaukee with eight earned in 5.0 innings but was doing better before that.

On Tuesday the Cardinals had a pretty miserable offensive outing outside of Nolan Arenado’s solo home run. The good news is that St. Louis only used two arms out of the bullpen (in a nice effort) so they’ll be fresh for the finale. The bats have to come around, though.

Andrew Jett's Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -125
