San Francisco Giants Betting Preview

Early in the week the Giants took on the Chicago Cubs. San Francisco won the first installment of that set 7-6 but then dropped the next pair 5-2 and 6-5. San Francisco took a 6-5 loss to the Cardinals in Thursday’s opener, then on Saturday the Giants posted 10 team hits in a 9-4 loss. Jordan Hicks gave up five earned in 4.0 innings in the start.

In the starter slot for the finale the Giants will send out Logan Webb. This year Webb is 6-5 with a 2.99 ERA in 16 starts. Over his career Webb is 47-37 with a 3.35 ERA in 129 games (126 starts) total.

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they took on the Miami Marlins this week. St. Louis eked out a 7-6 win Monday then fell 9-8 and 4-3 in the next two outings. Following their tight win Thursday, in game two the Cards came back from an early 3-0 deficit and ended up powering out 13 team hits.

It’ll be Sonny Gray in the starting pitcher role for the Cardinals on Sunday. This year so far Gray is 8-4 with a 2.95 ERA in 13 starts. He has 95 Ks in 76.1 innings total. Gray is 106-89 with a 3.45 career ERA in 292 games (283 starts).

San Francisco Giants vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll stay with the Cardinals, but I could go either way. Gray hasn’t been too bad over his last two outings. He’s 1-0 in that pair with three earned on nine hits and three walks in 14.2 combined frames. As for Webb, he’s been pretty solid as well with seven earned over his last 20.0 innings in three starts.

On Saturday the Cardinals got a couple of sizable offensive efforts in the victory, specifically from Alec Burleson (two homers; three runs; five RBI) and Paul Goldschmidt (homer; two RBI). Miles Mikolas (6.0 innings; four earned) was a little choppy in the beginning but overall it was a nice pitching effort. I like St. Louis to keep it going Sunday.

Andrew Jett's Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -122
