San Diego Padres Betting Preview

In their last series the Padres played the Pittsburgh Pirates. San Diego swept that set, taking wins 6-0, 9-8 and 7-6. Following a 6-2 win over the Marlins in the opener, in game two the Padres eked out a 9-8 win. Starting pitcher Matt Waldron finished with 4.1 innings and five earned.

Starter for the Padres on Sunday will be Dylan Cease. This year Cease is 11-8 with a 3.40 ERA in 24 starts. Cease is 54-43 with a 3.76 ERA in 147 career starts.

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

Over on the Marlins’ side, they took on the Cincinnati Reds in their last series. Miami was only able to win one of those four games, taking a 6-4 affair on Wednesday. In game two Saturday the Marlins blew a 7-3 lead in the seventh inning. Roddery Munoz left after 5.0 innings and three earned in the start.

Starting pitcher for the finale will be Max Meyer for Miami. This season Meyer is 2-2 with a 5.10 ERA in six starts. Over eight career starts Meyer is 2-3 with a 5.50 ERA.

San Diego Padres vs Miami Marlins Prediction

I’ll stay with the Padres, but the line’s probably too thick to mess with. Cease has been pitching well lately. In his last three appearances Cease is 2-0 with just one earned on four hits and six walks in 15.2 innings total. As for Meyer, he’s got 10 earned in his last 9.0 innings during a pair of losses.

On Saturday the Padres really got it going on offense late in the game, notching five runs between the seventh and eighth innings. San Diego used five arms out of the pen and didn’t record a particularly good pitching outing. That said I think they’re in line for another win in the finale if all goes well.

Andrew Jett's Pick: San Diego Padres -213
