In this article, we will formulate an Orioles vs Nationals prediction for this MLB game on Wednesday, April 23rd at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Baltimore Orioles Betting Preview

The Baltimore Orioles are 9-13 this year after they lost game one in this series by a score of 7-0 on Tuesday night. Baltimore fell behind 3-0 in the second inning, and they couldn’t find any offense to get back into the game in the loss. The Orioles recorded just one hit, and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Mullins, who had their only hit in the loss. Baltimore started Kremer, who allowed 11 hits and five earned runs over 5.1 innings in the loss, while Bowman allowed two hits and one earned run in 1.2 innings of relief work.

Prior to this series, the Orioles lost two out of three against the Reds, but did win two out of three against the Guardians before that. Baltimore has lost three of their last four games, and they are currently last in the AL East standings. The Baltimore pitching staff has a 5.48 ERA with a 1.61 WHIP and a .300 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 98 runs with a .224 batting average and a .297 on-base percentage this season. Cedric Mullins has led Baltimore with six home runs and 19 RBIs, while Heston Kjerstad has added three home runs and 12 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Baltimore is Tomoyuki Sugano, who is 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP over 21.0 innings pitched this year.

Washington Nationals Betting Preview

The Washington Nationals are 10-13 this season after they won the first game in this series on Tuesday night. Washington led 3-0 early in the game, and they added two more runs in the fifth to pull away for the easy win. The Nationals recorded 14 hits in the game, and they were led by Lowe and Ruiz, who both had two RBIs in the win. Washington started Parker, who allowed just one hit over 8.0 innings, while Poche and Henry pitched the final three outs in the game.

Prior to this series, the Nationals won two out of three against the Rockies, but did lose three out of four against the Pirates before that. Washington has won three of their last four games, and they are currently fourth in the NL East standings. The Washington pitching staff has a 4.88 ERA with a 1.43 WHIP and a .256 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 100 runs with a .237 batting average and a .308 on-base percentage this season. James Wood has led Washington with seven home runs and 17 RBIs, while Nathaniel Lowe has added four home runs and 19 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Washington is Trevor Williams, who is 1-2 with a 5.95 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP over 19.2 innings pitched this season.

Orioles vs Nationals Prediction

Baltimore comes into this matchup really struggling over their last two games, as they have been outscored 31-2 in those two losses. The Orioles have the worst team ERA in the MLB, but they are starting Sugano, who has been one of their best pitchers to start the season. Washington has some momentum after winning three of their last four games, but they are going with Williams, who has a very elevated WHIP on the year. I think this is a great spot for Baltimore to bounce back, and I like them to get the win behind a strong outing from Sugano.
