The A’s played the San Diego Padres in their early-week series. Oakland didn’t do well in that set, losing in a three-game sweep 6-1, 4-3 and 5-4. On Thursday in the opener versus the Twins, the A’s had just four team hits in a 6-2 loss. Tyler Soderstrom managed a two-run homer early but not much else happened at the plate.

I’ll lean toward the Twins, but with the relatively thick line I could probably go either way. Richardson had a spotty start versus the Astros on June 2, giving up three earned on three hits and two walks in 4.1 frames during a no-decision. He was able to bounce back with one earned in 6.1 innings against the Pirates his last time up, but still took the loss. As for Spence, he’s given up six earned in 13.0 innings over his last two starts, going 0-1 in that pair.
On Thursday the Twins had a nice victory. Starter Joe Ryan had a little trouble early but otherwise the pitching was stellar. I think Minnesota keeps it rolling Friday with another win.
