In this article, we will formulate a Miami Marlins vs Washington Nationals prediction for this MLB game on Thursday, September 12th at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. To formulate this prediction for game one in the series, we will examine:

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

The Miami Marlins are 54-92 this year and they have lost three of their last five games. Miami is coming off of a series loss against Pittsburgh, where they lost all three games. Prior to that series, the Marlins split four games with the Phillies, split two games with the Nationals, and won two out of three against the Giants. Miami is 3-6 in their last nine games and they are last in the NL East.

The Miami pitching staff has a 4.73 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and a .257 opponent batting average. The Marlins’ offense has scored 556 runs with a .241 batting average and a .297 on-base percentage. Jake Burger is batting .239 with 25 home runs and 61 RBI’s for the Marlins this season.

Washington Nationals Betting Preview

The Washington Nationals are 65-80 this season and they have lost two of their last three games. Washington is coming off of a series split against Atlanta, where they won one game and lost one game. Prior to that series, the Nationals split four games with the Pirates, split two games with the Marlins, and lost all three against the Cubs. Washington is 4-7 in their last 11 games and they are fourth in the NL East.

The Washington pitching staff has a 4.35 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and a .261 opponent batting average. The Nationals’ offense has scored 609 runs with a .245 batting average and a .312 on-base percentage. CJ Abrams is batting .239 with 20 home runs and 65 RBI’s for the Nationals this season.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Miami is Darren McCaughan, who is 0-0 with a 7.40 ERA and a 1.85 WHIP over 24.1 innings pitched this year. McCaughan has allowed five earned runs in his last two starts (8.2 IP). The projected starting pitcher for Washington is Mitchell Parker, who is 7-9 with a 4.43 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP over 136.0 innings pitched this season. Parker has allowed seven earned runs in his last two starts (9.1 IP).

Miami Marlins vs Washington Nationals Prediction

Washington was able to pick up a nice win on Wednesday night against the Braves, but they are just 33-38 at home and haven’t played well over the last two weeks. Miami is almost 40 games below .500 on the season and they are just 26-45 on the road. Both of these teams are sitting at the bottom of the NL East standings and I don’t like either of these starting pitchers. We have seen a decent season from Parker for the Nats, but he has started to fall apart over the last few weeks. I think we are going to see plenty of runs in this game, but I think there is value in the Marlins against Parker. Take Miami here.
