Dodgers Bounced Back in Last Game

After struggling the first couple of games of the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, they were able to bounce back in a big way on Sunday. The pitching almost blew it late, but they were still able to secure the 5-4 victory. Tanner Scott came out of the bullpen and had his issues, going only one inning giving up three hits and three runs. Yamamoto got the start for the Dodgers and he went seven innings giving up four hits and one earned run. He had 10 strikeouts and zero walks. In terms of the offense it was mostly a balanced attack.

The Dodgers are averaging 5.11 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.37 runs per game. Getting the start for the Dodgers is going to be Clayton Kershaw, who sits with a 9-2 record and an ERA of 3.06. Against the Reds in his last start, he five innings, giving up two hits and one run.

Pirates Coming off Series Win

The Pirates are coming off a series win over the weekend against the Boston Red Sox. The pitching was good most of the weekend, and on Saturday, they scored 10 runs on the way to the victory. On Sunday, however, the offense managed only two runs, which ultimately led to the series loss. Mitch Keller did have a strong start though, going five innings, giving up four hits and zero runs. Colin Holderman wasn’t great out of the bullpen, giving up three hits and one run in an inning of work.

The Pirates are averaging 3.62 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.07 runs per game. Carmen Mlodzinski is going to get the start for the Pirates and he sits with a 3-7 record and an ERA of 3.86. In his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals, he went three innings giving up three hits and one run.

LA Dodgers vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction

Give me the Dodgers to get the job done here in a big way, it’s not going to be all that close. Mlodzinski has been fine, but he hasn’t gone deep in games, and even if he has a good start, I don’t trust the Pirates’ bullpen. On the mound for the Dodgers is Clayton Kershaw who has been dominant this season, and the Pirates’ bats are going to be no answer for him. This is going to get out of hand early. This feels like a 7-1 or 7-2 type of game. Back the Dodgers -2.5 to cash here.

Shane Mickle's Pick: Dodgers -2.5
