The Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox will meet on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a three‑game American League Central series at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois.

Kansas City Royals Betting Preview

The Kansas City Royals enter Sunday’s contest with a 34–50 overall record (5th in the American League Central) and a dreadful 15–28 mark on the road. The Royals offense has been inconsistent to this point in the season. Kansas City has compiled 352 runs scored (19th in MLB), 148 doubles, a .244 team batting average and 82 home runs which ranks a rather low 24th in Major League Baseball.

The Royals arrive at tomorrow afternoon’s game in below average form. Kansas City has lost five of the team’s last seven games played this season, including a 13–2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this week.

Kansas City will turn to right hander Luinder Avila in this contest. In six starts made this season, Avila has compiled a 3–3 win‑loss record, a 5.06 ERA, a 1.62 WHIP and 39 strikeouts, while allowing 42 hits and 27 walks in 42.2 innings pitched. Luinder Avila has pitched at a high level recently, allowing one or fewer earned runs in four of his last five starts made in 2026.

The Kansas City Royals lineup features shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and catcher Salvador Perez. Bobby Witt Jr. has tallied a .291 batting average (17th in MLB), 10 home runs, 36 walks, 32 RBIs, 28 stolen bases and an .826 OPS. Salvador Perez has compiled 10 home runs, 10 doubles, 12 walks, 30 RBIs and a .573 OPS.

Chicago White Sox Betting Preview

The Chicago White Sox enter Sunday afternoon’s matchup with a 43-38 overall record (1st in the American League Central) and a 28-13 mark at home. Chicago has played competitive baseball recently, winning four of the team’s last five games, including a 2–1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians four days ago.

Chicago will start left hander Anthony Kay in tomorrow’s game. In fourteen starts made this season, Kay has compiled a 6–2 record, a 4.24 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP and 63 strikeouts, while allowing 76 hits and 30 walks in 76.1 innings pitched. Anthony Kay pitched well in his most recent outing, scattering three hits and no walks over six innings pitched in the Chicago White Sox’s 6-5 victory over the Cleveland Guardians earlier this week.

Shifting our focus to the Chicago offense, the White Sox lineup features second baseman Chase Meidroth who has amassed a .279 batting average, 6 home runs, 14 doubles, 28 walks, 27 RBIs, 2 stolen bases and a .728 OPS.

Why the Kansas City Royals will win.

• Starting pitching upside. Luinder Avila has compiled a 3–3 win‑loss record, a 5.06 ERA, a 1.62 WHIP and 39 strikeouts in 42.2 innings pitched.

• Offensive production. Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez continue to anchor the Kansas City Royals lineup.

• Enhanced motivation. Kansas City has lost five of the team’s last seven games.

Why the Chicago White Sox will win.

• Home field advantage. The White Sox have played competitive baseball at home this season posting a 28-13 record.

• Quality starting pitching. Anthony Kay has compiled a 6–2 record, a 4.24 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP and 63 strikeouts in 76.1 innings pitched.

• Current form. The Chicago White Sox have won four of the team’s last five games.

Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction

In my view, this matchup favors the Chicago White Sox. Why? Chicago starting pitcher Anthony Kay has pitched exceptionally well in 2026, compiling a 6-2 win-loss record, a 1.39 WHIP and 63 strikeouts in fourteen starts made this season. Additionally, the White Sox have played quality baseball at home posting a 28-13 record and Chicago is in good current form (won four of last five). With that said, the White Sox are the clear side to be on in this one. I am backing the Chicago White Sox on the moneyline in this game.
