Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

Last weekend the Tigers took on the Los Angeles Dodgers. Detroit lost the first installment of that set 4-3 but then came back for wins 11-9 and 4-3 to take the series. On Friday versus the Blue Jays, the Tigers eked out a win 5-4. Jack Flaherty went 5.2 innings in the start with two earned runs.

In the starter role for Saturday’s game the Tigers will send out Reese Olson. So far over 18 starts Olson is 4-8 with a 3.30 ERA. In his career Olson is 9-15 with a 3.65 ERA in 39 games (36 starts).

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they played the Arizona Diamondbacks in their last series before the break. Toronto lost the first two installments 5-4 and 12-1 before an 8-7 win in the finale. On Friday the Blue Jays had seven team hits, allowing seven as well. Starter Chris Bassitt managed 6.2 innings with five earned runs on seven hits and a walk.

It’ll be Yusei Kikuchi in the starter role for the Jays on Saturday. This year Kikuchi is 4-8 with a 4.42 ERA in 20 starts. Kikuchi is 36-45 with a 4.67 ERA in 154 career games (142 starts).

Detroit Tigers vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Jays, but ultimately I think I’m staying away. Kikuchi needs a major bounce-back effort after his last start. In that one Kikuchi gave up seven earned in 4.2 innings versus Arizona. Prior to that however Kikuchi had four earned in 13.0 total innings over two starts.

On Friday the Jays got a couple of big swings from George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero but everyone else had fairly quiet evenings. Toronto needs a little more noise in game two.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -135
