Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

This week, the Reds took on the Pittsburgh Pirates. Cincinnati opened with an 11-5 win before taking losses 9-5 and 6-1 to drop the series. The Reds came back with an 11-4 win over the Cardinals, then lost 1-0 Friday. In game three Saturday Cincinnati posted six runs in the fifth on the way to a 9-4 win. Carson Spiers lasted 6.0 innings in the start with one earned run.

In the starter slot for the Sunday finale the Reds are going with Hunter Greene. This year Greene is 5-3 with a 3.79 ERA in 16 starts. Greene is 14-23 over his MLB career with a 4.39 ERA in 62 starts.

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they played the Atlanta Braves in their early-week series. St. Louis lost 6-2 Wednesday but took the other two games 4-3 and 4-1 for a series win. On Saturday the Cardinals were out-hit 13-8 in a tough loss. Starter Sonny Gray gave up three earned in 4.1 innings as the starting pitcher.

Lance Lynn will take the starter duties for the Sunday finale. This season Lynn is 3-3 with a 3.86 ERA in 16 starts. Lynn has a career record of 139-98 with a 3.74 ERA in 357 games (333 starts). The Cardinals will meet the Pirates and Nationals after this series.

Cincinnati Reds vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Reds but I could probably go either way. Greene is coming off a bad start versus the Pirates with 4.0 innings and six earned in a loss. Prior to that Greene had just two earned in 11.1 innings over two starts, though. As for Lynn, he’s got nine earned over his last 16.1 innings total.

On Saturday the Reds got two RBI from three different players. It was a great day for the offense. Cincinnati did have three errors though, so they need to clean up the miscues in the finale.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Cincinnati Reds -118
