As the starting pitcher for Saturday’s game the Reds will send out Carson Spiers. This year Spiers is 1-1 with a 3.45 ERA in seven games (two starts). Spiers has a career record of 1-2 with a 4.47 ERA in 11 games (four starts) total.

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they played the Atlanta Braves this week. St. Louis lost Wednesday’s game 6-2 but otherwise took wins 4-3 and 4-1 for a series victory. On Friday the Cardinals had just four hits in the win. Starter Andre Pallante lasted 5.1 clean innings with four hits and three walks.

It’ll be Sonny Gray in the starter slot for the Cardinals on Saturday. This year so far Gray is 9-4 with a 2.81 ERA in 14 starts. Gray is 107-89 with a 3.44 ERA over 293 career games (284 starts). The Cardinals will meet the Pirates and Nationals after this series.

Cincinnati Reds vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll stick with the Cardinals. Gray is pitching well right now. Over his last three starts Gray is 2-0 with just four earned in 21.2 total innings. As for Spiers, he’s got seven earned over his last 12.0 innings in two starts.

On Friday the Cardinals got a great effort from the pitching staff, holding the Reds to just four hits. Gray should be able to keep that trend going Saturday, but the bats need to come along for the ride.

Andrew Jett's Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -169
