In this article we will formulate a Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers prediction for this MLB game on Monday, July 22nd at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. To formulate this prediction for game one in the series, we will examine:

White Sox Have Lost Seven Straight

The Chicago White Sox are 27-74 this year and they have lost seven games in a row. Chicago is coming off of a series loss against Kansas City, where they lost all three games and scored just one run in each game. Prior to that series, the White Sox lost all three against the Pirates, lost two out of three against the Twins, and lost two out of three against the Marlins. Chicago is 1-10 in their last 11 games and they are last in the AL Central.

The Chicago pitching staff has a 4.60 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, and a .246 opponent batting average. The White Sox offense has scored 316 runs with a .219 batting average and a .281 on base percentage. Paul DeJong is batting .224 with 16 home runs and 37 RBI’s for the White Sox this season. Chicago has scored two runs or fewer in six of their last seven games.

Rangers are Battling in the AL West

The Texas Rangers are 47-52 this season and they have won three of their last five games. Texas is coming off of a series loss against Baltimore, where they lost two out of three games. Prior to that series, the Rangers won two out of three against the Astros, won two out of three against the Angels, and swept the Rays in three games. Texas is 8-4 in their last 12 games and they are third in the AL West.

The Texas pitching staff has a 4.05 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and a .231 opponent batting average. The Rangers offense has scored 422 runs with a .238 batting average and a .310 on base percentage. Adolis Garcia is batting .207 with 17 home runs and 46 RBI’s for the Rangers this season. Texas has scored three runs or fewer in five of their last seven games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Chicago is Erick Fedde, who is 7-3 with a 2.99 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP over 111.1 innings pitched this season. Fedde has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts. The projected starting pitcher for Texas is Michael Lorenzen, who is 5-5 with a 3.52 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP over 92.0 innings pitched this year. Lorenzen has allowed five earned runs in two of his last three outings.

Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers Prediction

Chicago comes into this series really struggling and they are trying to snap a seven game losing streak here. The White Sox have been awful on the road, going just 10-40, while the Rangers are 25-23 at home. Texas is only five games out of first in the AL West, which is crazy to think about with how poorly they have played for most of the season. The Rangers are starting Lorenzen, who has had a pretty solid season, but has struggled in two of his last three starts and needs to limit the walks. Chicago is going with Fedde, who has been very good this year, but their bullpen is not good. Fedde is probably the better option over Lorenzen, but I can’t back Chicago, especially on the road. My Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers prediction is for the Rangers to win by at least two runs.

David Racey's Pick: Rangers -1.5
