Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

The Red Sox played the rival New York Yankees over the weekend and did pretty well. Boston lost 8-1 in the Friday opener but came back to win the other two games 8-4 and 9-3. On Monday versus Toronto the Sox powered out a 7-3 win. Starting pitcher Nick Pivetta left after 7.0 innings, three earned, nine hits and a walk.

It’ll be Tanner Houck in the starting pitcher role for the Sox on Tuesday. This year Houck is 7-5 with a 2.08 ERA in 14 starts. He’s got 89 Ks in 91.0 innings total. Houck is 22-24 with a 3.38 career ERA in 88 games (55 starts).

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they took on the Cleveland Guardians in their weekend series. Toronto similarly lost the first game 3-1 but then took wins 5-0 and 7-6 to win the set. On Monday the Jays were out-hit 11-10 during the loss. Justin Turner and Davis Schneider each had solo homers in the defeat.

Chris Bassitt will slot into the starter role for the Tuesday game. This year Bassitt is 6-6 over 14 starts with a 3.56 ERA and 75 Ks in 78.1 innings. Bassitt is 68-48 with a 3.49 career ERA in 183 games (170 starts).

Boston Red Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Blue Jays here. Bassitt has pitched well over his last three outings. In that trio he’s got four earned runs in 18.0 innings on 17 hits and seven walks for a 1-0 record. As for Houck, he’s done well himself with six earned on 15 hits and two walks in 20.0 innings over his last three for a 3-0 run. We should have a nice starter matchup here if both guys are on point.

On Monday the Jays had limited success on 10 team hits and got into an early 5-1 deficit. A couple of the bullpen guys were solid, though. Toronto needs a way better pitching outing Tuesday.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -115
