Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview

It’s been a highly successful year so far for the Hurricanes, as they’re rolling right along on an undefeated clip. Miami has taken out Stanford, Florida A&M, Wake Forest, Central Michigan, Clemson, Florida State and Pittsburgh in succession so far this season. That gives the Hurricanes a 7-0 record in the books.

In the Pittsburgh game last weekend the Canes scored a touchdown in the first quarter then added three more in the second on the way to a dominant 31-7 halftime edge. Miami kept it up from there, eventually demolishing Pitt by a margin of 52-23. Quarterback Darian Mensah was 31-of-37 for 387 yards and four scores while Javian Mallory had 47 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

North Carolina Tar Heels Betting Preview

Over on the Tar Heels’ side, they got off to a good start in their first two games with wins over TCU and East Tennessee State. North Carolina would lose the next two versus Clemson and Notre Dame, though. Since then it’s been wins over Pittsburgh and Duke ahead of a loss to Syracuse. Over seven games so far that gives the Tar Heels a 4-3 record.

Matched up against Syracuse last weekend the Tar Heels jumped out to a 10-0 lead after the first quarter, but by halftime that edge had evaporated to a 13-10 score. North Carolina got some breathing room with a third-quarter touchdown but eventually fell in OT 31-30. QB Billy Edwards was 27-of-44 for 271 yards and two touchdowns in the defeat.

Miami vs North Carolina Prediction

I’ll stick with Miami. The Hurricanes are looking very good these days and they’re coming off another big win. Miami posted 506 yards, 25 first downs and 10-of-15 on third downs in their victory versus Pitt, but it wasn’t perfect. The team did commit 10 penalties for 77 yards and gave up 334 passing yards on defense. Outside of that there’s not much to complain about. Miami has scored 33 or more points in every game so far this year while holding opponents to 13 or fewer in four of seven.

As for North Carolina, they put up 372 yards with 20 first downs and 9-of-17 on third downs in their loss to Syracuse. The defense gave away 23 first downs and 455 yards without a takeaway. UNC hasn’t been the best this year when it comes to scoring; they’ve got 26 or fewer points in five of their seven games.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Miami Hurricanes -14.5
