Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview

Ole Miss played the Furman Paladins in their opener. The Rebels had zero issues overwhelming the opposition in that one, posting a 76-0 blowout win. Jaxson Dart finished with 418 pass yards and five scores. Tre Harris caught two TDs among his eight receptions for 179 yards.

Matched up against Middle Tennessee in game two, Ole Miss scored double-digit points in the first three quarters during a 52-3 win. Dart bagged 377 yards and a TD, but Henry Parrish did most of the work on 14 carries for 165 yards and four touchdowns.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons Betting Preview

Over on the Wake Forest side, their season kicked off against North Carolina A&T. The Demon Deacons posted 21 points in the third quarter alone during a 45-13 blowout win. QB Hank Bachmeier logged 263 yards with three scores, while Demond Claiborne carried 17 times for 135 yards and a touchdown.

In the Virginia matchup last weekend, Wake Forest took a 30-17 lead into the final quarter. The Deacons broke down from there with 14 unanswered points, however, and lost 31-30. Bachmeier posted 403 yards and a TD. Donavon Green caught 11 balls for 166 yards and a score.

Ole Miss vs Wake Forest Prediction

I’m going with Ole Miss. Sure, Middle Tennessee wasn’t exactly top-shelf competition last weekend, but the Rebels took care of business. Ole Miss finished with 655 total yards (397 passing), 9.0 yards per play, 34 first downs, and 7-of-9 on third-down tries. On defense, the Rebels gave up just 279 yards (251 passing) and posted two takeaways. The one real blemish was the eight penalties.

As for Wake Forest, they’re reeling after their fourth-quarter breakdown last weekend. The Deacons went a tepid 5-of-15 on third downs and gave up 357 passing yards along the way. Wake Forest will have to recover quickly for Saturday’s game, and I don’t think they’ll quite cover.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Ole Miss Rebels -23.5
