The Washington Mystics and the Toronto Tempo meet Friday in WNBA action from the Coca Cola Coliseum. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Washington Mystics vs. Toronto Tempo prediction.
Washington Mystics Team Preview
The Washington Mystics are out to continue the next step of their growth in 2026 after finishing 2025 with a record of 16-28, but missing out on the postseason. The good news for Washington is that their foundation for the future is set with Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen leading the way. Alongside Iriafen, the Mystics re-signed athletic forward-center Shakira Austin and added high-profile size in the draft, selecting 6-foot-7 Lauren Betts, Angela Dugalic, and Cotie McMahon. The dynamic duo of Citron and Iriafen, with the fan-dubbed moniker of “Kitron”, will run the show, while fans eagerly await the return of point guard Georgia Amoore, who missed last year with an ACL tear. If the Mystics young core can stay healthy and bring pieces back, there’s a lot of optimism in 2026.
Toronto Tempo Team Preview
The Toronto Tempo break ground on the WNBA north of the border as they officially launch their inaugural WNBA season in 2026. Rather than enduring a typical expansion-draft struggle, the Tempo made an absolute splash in the offseason by hiring head coach Sandy Brondello, a proven winner with two WNBA titles under her belt, to steer the ship from day one. The Tempo’s strength lies in its backcourt. Toronto boasts an incredibly solid guard rotation, featuring established veterans Brittney Sykes, Marina Mabrey, and Canadian star Kia Nurse, alongside highly touted rookie Kiki Rice, selected No. 6 overall out of UCLA. The biggest question mark, however, is the frontcourt. Aside from Isabelle Harrison, the team lacks proven double-figure scorers in the post, meaning the Tempo will heavily rely on center Temi Fagbenle to anchor the paint and stay healthy. Can Toronto Follow the blueprint laid out by the Valkyries last year who shocked the world as the expansion team and made the postseason?

Washington Mystics vs. Toronto Tempo Prediction
I’m rolling with Toronto at home. I think this Toronto home court is going to provide a similar level of boost that Ballhalla did for the Valkyries in Golden State last season and I think the Tempo are well coached under Brondello, who knows how to instill a winning mentality from her time with the Liberty. The Mystics are a solid team but again, they’re struggling to maintain health, and I think Toronto can take advantage with this talented backcourt and in the end, I think the Tempo start their tenure with a win.
