The Golden State Valkyries and the Seattle Storm meet Friday in WNBA action from Climate Pledge Arena. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Golden State Valkyries vs. Seattle Storm prediction.

Matchup History

The Storm Won the most recent meeting between these two teams by a final score of 74-73 back on September 9th, 2025, making the home team 4-0 all time between these two teams.

Golden State Valkyries Team Preview

The Golden State Valkyries are looking to prove in 2026, their historic inaugural season was no fluke. In 2025, the Valkyries shattered expectations by becoming the first expansion franchise to make the playoffs, finishing with a 23-21 record. While they were swept in the first round by the Lynx, head coach Natalie Nakase took home Coach of the Year honors, and Veronica Burton won Most Improved Player. Nakases group’s identity is defense. The Valkyries led the W in scoring defense last year, allowing just 76.3 PPG, and upgraded further in free agency by landing lockdown guard Gabby Williams. However, size is a major concern as Monique Billings and Temi Fagbenle departed the team meaning Kiah Stokes is left to anchor the paint. Only time will tell if the Valkyries can take the next step, winning their first playoff game in franchise history.

Seattle Storm Team Preview

The Seattle Storm come into 2026 in unfamiliar territory as the rebuild begins for the Storm, despite finishing 2025 with a record of 23-21, losing in the first round of the playoffs after pushing the defending champion Aces to the brink but losing in 3 games. The team is built around 20-year-old French center Dominique Malonga, who was taken second overall in 2025, and 2026 No. 3 pick Awa Fam. To help fill the scoring void, they also acquired LSU standout Flau’jae Johnson on draft day. While asking a rookie to carry the offense is a tall order, Johnson’s early preseason performances suggest she is ready for the spotlight.

Golden State Valkyries vs. Seattle Storm Prediction

I’m on the under in this one. I just don’t want to lay points with the Valkyries on the road here even if they are the better team, as the home court has mattered in this matchup historically. However, on the flipside, the Valks do have a fantastic defense and the Storm are clearly in rebuild mode and I think that will matter in this game. Ultimately I think this one ends up being low-scoring, so give me the under here.

Chris Ruffolo's Pick: Under 156.5
