The Washington Mystics and Minnesota Lynx face off on Wednesday in a WNBA showdown at Target Center. When these two teams faced off on June 3rd it was the Lynx that were able to secure the 80-78 victory.
Mystics Betting Preview
The Mystics come into this game with a 12-10 record overall and they are coming off another big victory in the last game. The Mystics scored 84 points and that was enough to win by 15 points over the Phoenix Mercury. At the end of the first quarter they were up 25-14 and they and although they only scored 13 points in the 4th quarter, it was enough to secure the victory. Even though the Mercury are only two games above .500, this is a team that could make some noise once the playoffs roll around. The Mystics are averaging 81.5 points while their defense is giving up 79.1 points per game. The offense is ranked 7th while the defense is ranked 3rd. In this game the defense is going to need to step up. One big issue for the Mystics right now is that star player Elena Delle Donne is dealing with an ankle injury and is expected to be out for at least a couple more weeks.
Lynx Betting Preview
On the other side of this matchup is the Lynx who sit with a 10-13 record overall. The Lynx are 4-0 against the Los Angeles Sparks, but outside of them, they haven’t found a whole lot of success. On Saturday the Lynx faced off against the Las Vegas Aces and they were defeated 98-81. The offense really looked impressive, but the defense wasn’t good enough. Diamond Miller was the top player finishing with 17 points, five rebounds, and three assists. The Lynx are averaging 79.2 points while their defense is giving up 85.2 points per game. The offense is ranked 8th in the league while the defense is ranked 9th. If Naphessa Collier played on a team that was winning more games, there would be a lot more chatter about how well she has played this season. Heading into this game, Collier is averaging 21.7 points while shooting 48.5 percent from the field and 32.2 percent from behind the three point line.
Shane’s Free Pick
The Lynx are going to add the Mystics to the short list of teams they have found success against this season. The Lynx already have a win over the Mystics, and they are coming off a game where they scored 81 points. The Lynx are going to score at least 80 points here, and without Elena Delle Donne, Washington isn’t going to have the offensive success to keep this game close. Back the Lynx against the spread.
