The Chicago Sky and New York Liberty meet Saturday in WNBA action at the Barclays Center. The Chicago Sky look to build on their 6-game winning streak. The New York Liberty look to snap a 5-game losing streak.
The Chicago Sky are averaging 85.8 points on 48 percent shooting and allowing 79.4 points on 42.9 percent shooting. Kahleah Cooper is averaging 14.5 points and 2.1 assists, while Candace Parker is averaging 13.3 points and 8.8 rebounds. Emma Meesseman is the third double-digit scorer and Allie Quigley is grabbing 2.8 rebounds. The Chicago Sky are shooting 35.7 percent from beyond the arc and 82.9 percent from the free throw line. The Chicago Sky are allowing 33.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 35.9 rebounds per game.
The New York Liberty are averaging 78.8 points on 42.7 percent shooting and allowing 84.3 points on 42.7 percent shooting. Sabrina Ionescu is averaging 17.2 points and 6.1 assists, while Natasha Howard is averaging 15.1 points and 7 rebounds. Betnijah Laney is the third double-digit scorer and Marine Johannes is grabbing 1.7 rebounds. The New York Liberty are shooting 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 80.8 percent from the free throw line. The New York Liberty are allowing 36.1 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 33.6 rebounds per game.
This feels like 2 teams heading in different directions as the Chicago Sky are on fire and closing on the top seed while the New York Liberty are piling up the losses and watching their season slip away. The Liberty's defense has fallen off a cliff during this losing stretch, and not what you want to see with the Sky coming to town. The New York Liberty haven't been competitive in any of their last 4 games, and I wouldn't expect things to change with the Sky here. Give me the road team and whatever the line is.
