The Phoenix Mercury and Dallas Wings meet Saturday in WNBA action at the College Park Center. The Phoenix Mercury look to snap a 3-game losing streak. The Dallas Wings look to get a game above a .500 record.
The Phoenix Mercury are averaging 81.8 points on 44 percent shooting and allowing 86.9 points on 45.3 percent shooting. Skylar Diggins-Smith is averaging 18.4 points and 3.7 rebounds, while Tina Charles is averaging 17.3 points and 7.3 rebounds. Diana Taurasi is the third double-digit scorer and Diamond DeShields is dishing 2.2 assists. The Phoenix Mercury are shooting 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 79.8 percent from the free throw line. The Phoenix Mercury are allowing 38 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 30.6 rebounds per game.
The Dallas Wings are averaging 82.5 points on 42 percent shooting and allowing 80.9 points on 45.3 percent shooting. Arike Ogunbowale is averaging 19.2 points and 2.9 rebounds, while Allisha Gray is averaging 14.5 points and 5.6 rebounds. Marina Mabrey is the third double-digit scorer and Satou Sabally is grabbing 5.4 rebounds. The Dallas Wings are shooting 36.6 percent from beyond the arc and 80.1 percent from the free throw line. The Dallas Wings are allowing 33 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 35.4 rebounds per game.
The Phoenix Mercury are still one of the more talented rosters in the league, and I'm not ready to give up on them just yet, but there's no doubt they're playing rough basketball right now and the defense has been a mess. The Dallas Wings aren't world beaters, but they've beaten the Phoenix Mercury twice this season, and that includes a win about a week ago where they dropped 93 points. I have no choice but to side with the Wings at home given the form of both teams and the history this season.
