The 2021 WNBA season is just underway and we have two games on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Here are picks, predictions and odds for the two WNBA contests.
Chicago Sky at Washington Mystics
No team made a bigger splash this offseason than the Sky with the addition of one of the best players of all time in Candace Parker. Throw in Courtney Vandersloot, Allie Quigley and Diamond DeShields, and the Sky have a chance to be one of the better teams in the league. The Mystics won’t have Alysha Clark due to injury, but they do see the return of Elena Delle Donne, Natasha Cloud and Tina Charles. As long as the Mystics stay healthy, they’ll be in the conversation for a WNBA title. I’m going to assume the Sky are going to be underdogs here and there’s too much talent on that side to turn down free points.
Pick: Chicago Sky
Las Vegas Aces at Seattle Storm
The Las Vegas Aces make a case as the best team in the league, as A’ja Wilson is coming off an MVP season Dearica Hamby was Sixth Woman of the Year and Liz Cambage returns after taking last season off. The Seattle Storm are the defending champs and return enough production to like their chances to repeat. Sue Bird, Candice Dupree and Jewell Loyd are all back in the mix and Breanna Stewart is still the straw that stirs the drink. This should be a hell of a game and an early measuring stick of a game. Still, this feels like a game the Aces need to set the tone for their season. Give me the Aces.
Pick: Las Vegas Aces
