The Connecticut Sun and Las Vegas Aces face off on Tuesday in a playoff showdown at the IMG Academy in Florida. The Sun currently have a 1-0 lead after winning the first game of this series 87-62.
Did anyone really expect the Connecticut Sun to be here still in the playoffs at this point of the season? The Connecticut Sun had to beat the Chicago Sky in the first round of the playoffs, a game that was single elimination. In the second round of the playoffs the Sun had to beat the Los ANgeles Sparks, the team that were the favorite, and in that game the defense locked down in a big way giving up only 59 points and that led to a victory. In the first game of this series it was another dominating game with the defense locking down again. Guard Jasmine Towers also stepped up in a big way scouring 31 points.
On the other side of this matchup is the Las Vegas Aces who were the favorite in this series, but they can’t fall behind 2-0. The Aces had a bye to this round of the playoffs and they looked rusty in the first game, maybe the layoff wasn’t the best thing for them. This is an Aces team that has found a whole lot of success this season, including the last game before the playoffs where they beat the Los Angeles Sparks 84-70. All season it’s been about the Aces offense and in this game the Aces need to find a way to get that offense going. On the season the Aces are averaging 88.7 points per game. A’Ja Wilson has been the best offensive player for the Aces averaging 20.5 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the field.
The Aces looked bad in their last game, but they have their bearing back underneath them and they are going to turn it around in this game. Look for the Aces to have a big game two and they will cover the spread.
