The Dallas Wings and Washington Mystics face off in their 17th game of the WNBA season inside the bubble at IMG Academy on Sunday.
The Dallas Wings have really struggled this season and coming into this game they have lost four of the last five games. The defense has really struggled as of late, and even though the offense hasn’t been terrible, it isn’t good enough for a defense that is getting the score run up every game. In the Wings last game, the best player was Allisha Gray who put up 26 points and four rebounds. The Wings come into this game averaging 82 points while the defense is giving up 85.3 points. The Wings are only shooting 40.9 percent from the field and letting opponents shoot 46.1 percent from the field.
Arike Ogunbowale comes into this game averaging 21.7 points while shooting 41.3 percent from the field. Gray has also found success averaging 12 points while shooting 43.4 percent from the field.
On the other side of this matchup is the Washington Mystics who have also had issues this season but they are coming off a win in their last game against the Chicago Sky. The Mystic offense wasn’t elite in that game, but the defense gave up only 69 points and that led to a victory. Leilani Mitchell was the best offensive player for the Mystics in the last game putting up 20 points and 12 assists.
The Mystics best offensive player this season has been Myshia Hines-Allen who is averaging 14.9 points while shooting 47 percent from the floor. The Mystics are averaging 78.6 points per game while the defense is giving up 83.1 points per game.
These are two offenses who aren’t elite and that is going to continue in this game. Look for a low scoring game in this one that stays well under the posted total.
