The Phoenix Mercury and Minnesota Lynx face off in their 15th game of the WNBA season inside the bubble at IMG Academy on Sunday
The Phoenix Mercury are coming into this game playing well having won two games in a row but both of those wins were over the Mystics, a team that hasn’t been great so far this year. In the last game the Mercury put up 94 points while giving up only 72 points. Skyler Diggins Smith Was the star of the show in the last game putting up 24 points, six rebounds, and three assists. On the season the Mercury are averaging 86.8 points per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field. On defense the Mercury are giving up 85.1 points per game
The Mercury are led by Diana Taurasi who comes into this game averaging 17.8 points while shooting 41.5 percent from the field. One problem for the Mercury is they are without Brittney Griner who decided to leave the bubble.
On the other side of this matchup is the MInnesota Lynx who are banged up but are still winning games. In the Lynx last game against the Atlanta Dream, their offense was strong putting up 88 points and that was enough to come away with a nine point victory.
In that last game the best player for the Lynx was rookie Crystal Dangerfield who put up 23 points and four rebounds. On the season the Lynx are averaging 81.9 points per game while the defense is giving up 76.6 points per game. Napheesa Collier has been the best player this season for the Lynx averaging 16 points while shooting 50.3 percent from the field. In this game if the Lynx want to come away with a win, the offense is going to need to step up.
These are two teams who can really score and that will continue in this game. Look for both teams to run up the score and this game will go well over the posted total. In terms of the side it’s a lean to the Lynx but the stronger play is with the over.
