The Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever face off in their 15th game of the WNBA season inside the bubble at IMG Academy on Thursday.
The Chicago Sky had won four games in a row but they are coming off one of their most shocking losses of the season. In the Sky’s last game they took on the New York Liberty, the worst team in the WNBA and a team that has struggled to score points all season. The Liberty’s offense in that game though was strong against a week Sky defense putting up 101 points. The Sky come into this game averaging 87.9 points per game while their defense is giving up 83.3 points per game. The Sky are shooting 49.5 percent from the field while letting opponents shoot 45.5 percent from the field.
In the Sky’s last game the star of the show was Allie Quigley who put up 29 points and three rebounds. The stars best all season has been Quigley who is averaging 15.3 points while shooting 46.8 percent from the floor.
On the other side of this matchup is the Indiana Fever who has struggled coming into this game losing each of the last two games. Over the last two games the Fever have only averaged 75 points per game and in each of the two games the defense gave up 87 points total. In the last game against the Seattle Storm, the Fever only scored 12 points in the second quarter and the offense couldn’t bounce back as they lost.
The Fever come into this game averaging 81.2 points while shooting 44.6 percent from the field. Their defense is giving up 87.1 points per game while letting opponents shoot 46.6 percent from the field. The best player this season for the Fever has been Kelsey Mitchell who is also averaging 18.5 points while shooting 46.2 percent from the field.
The Sky’s last loss is shocking but one thing is more concerning, that defense and that is going to continue in this game. Look for both the Sky and the Fever to run up the score in this game and that will lead to this game going well over the total.
