The New York Liberty and Chicago Sky face off in their 14th game of the WNBA season inside the bubble at IMG Academy on Tuesday.
The New York Liberty knew coming into this season there might be some problems and that has been the case. Coming into this game the Liberty have lost seven games in a row and none of those losses have really been all that close. In the Liberty’s last game against the Connecticut Sun the offense was a big issue scoring only 65 points and that led to another loss by double digits. Kia Nurse was the Liberty’s best player putting up 17 points and four assists. The Liberty come into this game averaging 72.8 points per game while giving up 89 points per game.
One of the big issues for the Liberty is their star player Sabrina Ionescu has only played three games this year before an ankle injury. The best player in her absence has been Layshia Clarendon who is averaging 12.3 points and 4.2 assists per game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Chicago Sky who are playing some really good basketball coming into this game having won each of the last four games and the defense has been strong for the most part.and in the last game they gave up 76 points. On the season the Sky are averaging 87.1 points per game while the defense is giving up 82 points per game.
The best player this season for the Sky has been Kahleah Copper who comes into this game averaging 15.1 points while shooting 51.8 percent from the field. Allie Quigley has also found a lot of success averaging 14.4 points while shooting 47.6 percent from the field.
The Liberty struggle to even keep games close and that is going to continue in this game. Look for the Sky’s defense to lock down the Liberty’s offense and that will lead to the Sky winning this game and covering the spread.
