The Phoenix Mercury and Washington Mystics face off in their 13th game of the WNBA season inside the bubble at IMG Academy on Sunday.
The Phoenix Mercury have struggled this season and coming into this game they have lost three games in a row. In the last game against the Minnesota Lynx, the Mercury didn’t play terribly, but averaging only 17 points in the second and third quarter really let them down. The Mercury come into this game averaging 86.2 points while giving up 85.9 points per game. Brittney Griner comes into this game averaging 17.7 points per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the field. Diana Taurasi has dealt with some injuries this season but she is still averaging 16.5 points per game but she is only shooting 38.7 percent from the field.
On the other side of this matchup is the Washington Mystics who are basically playing with a shell roster of last season but they have still tried to be competitive inside the bubble. The Washington Mystics have gone 1-1 in their last two games but even in their last loss they were able to make it to overtime against the Dallas Wings. In overtime of that game they were only able to score four points and that led to the loss. Myisha Hines-Allen was the star of the show in that last game putting up 35 points and 12 rebounds.
On the season the Mystics are averaging 81 points per game while their defense is giving up 83.4 points per game. Hines-Allen has been the best player for this team all season averaging 16.7 points, eight rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
The Mystics are so banged up but they are feisty and they are going to find a way to get it in this game. It might not be the prettiest game but they will find a way to cover the spread in this game.
