The Chicago Sky and Phoenix Mercury face off in their sixth game of the WNBA season inside the bubble at IMG Academy.
The Chicago Sky have played with a lot of success this season winning four of their five games so far this season. The only loss for the Sky inside the bubble was against the Minnesota Lynx during the third game, a game they lost by only two points. In the last game the Dallas Wings offense was good putting 82 points and even though it was a competitive game all the way to the last minute, they were able to come away with a three-point victory. The Sky’s offense has been strong all season averaging 87 points while giving up 82.4 points.
The Sky are led by Azura Stevens who is averaging 14.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Kahleah Cooper has also found a lot of success this season averaging 14 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Phoenix Mercury who lost their first two games of the season but since that point they have won three games in a row. In the last game, the Mercury played well against the Dream giving up only 74 points while scoring 81 points. This is a Mercury team who’s offense has been good and earlier in the season they put up 102 points. On the season the Mercury are averaging 91 points per game while the defense is giving up 88.2 points.
On offense the Mercury are led by Bria Hartley who is averaging 18.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Brittney Griner has also found a lot of success this season averaging 16.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game .
These are two teams who like to push the pace and that will continue in this game. Look for very little defense by both squads that will lead to this game going well over the posted total.
