The Russian is ranked 26th in the WTA rankings and is coming off a first-round upset at the US Open, where she lost to Indonesia’s Janice Tjen. It was a shocking defeat that came on the back of a semifinal run in Cincinnati, in which Kudermetova beat the likes of Belinda Bencic and Clara Tauson, two players who have shone this season.
Kudermetova is 33-21 for the season and is 20-12 on hard courts. She has won seven of her last nine matches. This will be her fourth visit to Guadalajara. She was a quarterfinalist on her debut back in 2022. However, she has lost in the round of 16 in each of her last two visits.
Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva is coming off a first-round win over Elena Pridankina. The match took 19 games to decide and lasted an hour and 34 minutes. Kasintseva hit four aces and 10 double faults.
