Sara Bejlek vs Emma Navarro Preview
Sara Bejlek has been one of the breakout stars on the women’s tour this season. The 20-year-old Czech has climbed inside the Top 40 after capturing her maiden WTA title on the hard courts of Abu Dhabi. She’s ranked in 37th spot ahead of this tournament. In her early career, Bejlek has been viewed as one of the most talented prospects from the Czech pipeline, and she’s been living up to that reputation this season. Her overall clay results this spring have been a bit mixed and she enters the Strasbourg Open on a three-match losing streak.
Bejlek’s ranking rise has come quickly over the last few months, and she now enters tournaments with far more pressure than she dealt with earlier in her young career. Right now, the question is whether she can stay fit and consistent. At times this season, she has looked capable of going toe-to-toe against the top players, as evidenced by her title run in Abu Dhabi, but she’s dealt with multiple injury setbacks. Physically, she has recovered in time to feature at the upcoming French Open. If she settles into rhythm early, Bejlek might just be able to tap into her best tennis.
Emma Navarro enters the 2026 Strasbourg Open unseeded and looking to regain stability after a difficult and somewhat stop-start 2026 campaign. Navarro is one of the smartest point constructors on the WTA Tour, but she’s battled some health issues for most of 2026 so far and was forced to adjust her schedule.
Navarro is making her fourth appearance at the Strasbourg Open, having been a quarterfinalist in this tournament twice. This is an important opportunity for the American to regain her confidence before Roland Garros. Navarro’s 2026 results have not fully matched the standard she set during her recent years on tour, and so far, her serve and forehand have lacked their usual sharpness.
That said, Navarro’s experience in high-level WTA matches gives her a significant advantage over younger opponents still finding their feet at Tour level. But because she has not played a lot of matches this swing, Navarro will be the underdog in her opening match in Strasbourg.
