Aryna Sabalenka vs Marta Kostyuk Preview

Aryna Sabalenka reached her third straight final at the Brisbane International. Sabalenka started the tournament by beating Cristina Bucsa 6-0, 6-1 in under an hour before dismissing Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 6-3 in her second match. In the quarterfinals, the World No. 1 overpowered Madison Keys in straight sets in 90 minutes to make the semis.

In the last four, Sabalenka beat Elena Rybakina’s conqueror, Karolina Muchova, in straight sets in a match that took 19 games to decide. Sabalenka needed 90 minutes to record a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Sabalenka hit 5 aces and 1 double fault. She landed 62% of first serves in play and won 90% of first serve points (19/21). Sabalenka saved all four break points she faced. Sabalenka has not dropped a set this week.

Marta Kostyuk is in her first final in Brisbane and her first on the WTA Tour since Stuttgart 2024. Kostyuk has been on fire this week, starting the tournament with an emphatic 6-7, 6-1, 6-0 against Yulia Putintseva. Since then, she earned three Top 10 wins in the space of three days.

She beat two-time Grand Slam finalist Amanda Anisimova in the last 16. And in the quarterfinals, she withstood a brave fightback from Mirra Andreeva to win 7-6, 6-3. Kostyuk’s best performance came in the semifinal, where she outclassed Jessica Pegula 6-0, 6-3 in under an hour. Kostyuk hit 4 aces in the victory and won 79% of first serve points (22/28). Kostyuk saved both break points she faced in the match.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Marta Kostyuk Prediction

I’m really intrigued to see if Kostyuk can keep this up for the rest of the season because if she does, she is destined for a ranking surge. She was close to nicking a set against Sabalenka in the two matches they played last year on clay. That said, Sabalenka has a psychological and physical edge in this match. Sabalenka’s aggression is almost unmatched, and she’s been untouchable on serve. That combination will likely result in her second Brisbane title

Nur Said's Pick: Aryna Sabalenka in three sets
