Dino Prizmic vs Justin Engel Preview
Dino Prizmic lost his opening match in the Red Group of the Next Gen ATP Finals to Nishesh Basavareddy of the USA. Prizmic is making his debut at this event and rallied from a set down to stand on the cusp of leveling the match. But despite holding three set points in the second set tiebreak and being 6-4 up, he failed to convert any of those chances and was left to rue that opportunity.
Basavareddy prevailed in the breaker 9-7 to take a commanding 2-0 sets lead. Prizmic was able to win the third set in a tiebreak, but the American looked far the fitter of the two in the fourth, which he won with the sole break. Basavareddy won 4-2, 4-3, 3-4, 4-2 in an hour and 57 minutes.
Prizmic hit 14 aces in total and amassed 6 double faults. Prizmic landed 63% of first serves in play and won 76% of first serve points (38/50). Prizmic created just two break points and broke serve once.
Justin Engel is also coming off an opening match defeat on his Next Gen ATP Finals debut. The German lost to big-hitting Alexander Blockx in just 83 minutes. Engel took a surprise lead when he won the first set tiebreak after saving two set points.
However, Engel couldn’t build on that lead and as Blockx fired 30 winners, including 17 aces, to turn the match around and prevail in four sets. Engel tallied 29 unforced errors in the match, which proved his undoing.
Dino Prizmic vs Justin Engel Head-To-Head
Prizmic beat Engel in straight sets in their only meeting at the San Marino Challenger on clay.
Dino Prizmic vs Justin Engel Prediction
Both men lost their opening match in the Red Group and they are now in must-win territory to stay in this tournament. Prizmic looked a little lethargic but wasn’t as error-prone as Engel, who was overpowered by Blockx. The Croatian should be the favorite, but we’re taking the overs in sets.
