Jaume Munar vs Sebastian Baez Preview
At the age of 28, Jaume Munar is coming off a career-best season. He sits at a career-high ranking of World No. 36 after posting a 31-29 record in all competitions in the whole of 2025.While Munar suffered that many defeats, he had some very close tussles against the world’s best players and overachieved on some of his most challenging surfaces. Overall, he had a 51.9% win rate on the ATP Tour, which is his highest at this level.
Munar was also part of the Spanish team that went all the way to the final of the Davis Cup at the back end of last season, where they would finish runners-up to Italy in Bologna. The 28-year-old is now entrusted as Spain’s No. 1 singles player at the United Cup, where he will be making his debut.
Sebastian Baez will begin his 2026 campaign at the United Cup representing Team Argentina. If Argentina are to progress into the knockout stage of this competition for the first time, Baez will need to do a lot of heavy lifting.
On clay, Baez normally shines, but he struggled immensely on hard courts throughout 2025, recording just three wins and losing 12 times. Baez finished the 2025 season with five losses in a row, and even in a return to the Challenger Tour in Montevideo in late season, did not address that slide. As such, his ranking fell to 45th in the ATP rankings.
Jaume Munar vs Sebastian Baez Head-To-Head
Munar and Baez have met twice at all levels. Munar won their first meeting at the Buenos Aires qualifying in 2021 via retirement. Their second meeting was also on clay in Santiago over a year ago. Baez won in straight sets.
Jaume Munar vs Sebastian Baez Prediction
Munar and Baez are players who thrive when the ball slows down. But 2025 results suggested otherwise as Munar quietly raised his level on hard courts, often serving huge and tepping inside to take the ball early. That aggression and attacking mindset made him a serial overachiever on the surface. If Munar protects his serve and brings a similar level, he should steer Spain to a perfect start in the United Cup.
