Mirra Andreeva vs Anastasia Potapova Preview
Mirra Andreeva reached the final of the Linz Open on her debut. Andreeva entered the event as the top seed and the World No. 10 kicked off the week by dispatching former US Open champion Sloane Stephens 6-4, 6-2 in her opener. In the second round, Andreeva faced some stern resistance from Romanian veteran Sorana Cirstea, but finished the match strongly and prevailed 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 to make the semis. In the last four, Andreeva defeated Jelena Ostapenko’s conqueror, Elena Gabriela Ruse, in straight sets to advance to the final. In the victory, Andreeva hit 3 aces and 2 double faults. She landed 65% of first serves in play and won 65% of first serve points (24/37). Andreeva won 55% of second serve points (11/20) and saved one of three break points. Andreeva improves to 17-6 for the season and will seek her second title of 2026.
Anastasia Potapova is a former champion at Linz, back when the tournament was held on indoor hard courts. This year, the tournament switched to indoor clay, and Potapova has not dropped a set all week. She kicked off the tournament with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Shuai Zhang. Potapova then beat Tamara Korpatsch 6-2, 6-1 to maintain her track record of reaching the quarterfinals at every edition of the Linz Open she has participated.
Potapova took out fellow Austrian Lilli Tagger in straight sets. After edging out a first set tiebreak, Potapova won the second set 6-0. Potapova faced a resurgent Donna Vekic in the semifinal, but the 25-year-old remained consistent with her weight of shot to down the Croatian in straight sets. Potapova improves to 11-8 for the season as she chases her first title of 2026.
