Marie Bouzkova vs Katerina Siniakova Preview
Marie Bouzkova has compiled a 12-12 record in 2026, but her numbers on clay courts are much stronger. Bouzkova is 5-2 on the surface this year and picked up her third career title at the Bogota Open in April. That title success in Colombia helped stabilize a season that started poorly on hard courts. Bouzkova is currently ranked World No. 26, just two spots from her career-high ranking achieved this season. But since lifting the title in Bogota, Bouzkova has gone 1-3 in her last four matches, losing her opening matches in Madrid and Rome. She will seek to pick up her first win of the European clay swing in Strasbourg. This will be her second appearance at the event. Last year, she reached the last 16.
The Strasbourg Open should suit Bouzkova’s style and game. Slow clay gives her extra time to defend. Movement remains one of her biggest strengths, especially against aggressive and crafty players. The concern is still the serve, especially the second delivery, which makes her vulnerable.
Katerina Siniakova has had a much more uneven 2026 season in singles tournaments. She has compiled 10 wins and 9 losses. On clay, Siniakova has 3 wins and 2 defeats. Her only tournaments this swing were the WTA 1000s in Madrid and Rome, where she reached the third round and second round, respectively.
Siniakova is ranked just inside the Top 40 as she returns to the Strasbourg Open and continues to balance singles with a heavy doubles schedule (she is the doubles No. 1), and I think that has always made her difficult to evaluate week to week. On talent alone, Siniakova is dangerous as she brings a very versatile brand of tennis and can execute some well-improvised shots.
