Madison Keys faces third seed Jessica Pegula in an all-American clash in the quarterfinals of the Berlin Open on Friday, June 19th. The two best friends off the court rekindle their rivalry on the court for the second time this year after meeting at Australian Open back in January when Pegula ended her compatriot’s title reign. But will Keys have the last laugh this time and reach the Berlin semifinals for the first time? Here’s our Madison Keys vs Jessica Pegula prediction. This preview will also include a Madison Keys vs Jessica Pegula pick.

Madison Keys vs Jessica Pegula Preview

Madison Keys powered past number 7 seed Karolina Muchova to return to the Berlin Open quarterfinals for a second time. Keys won in two tight sets, 6-4, 7-5 to progress. She broke Muchova’s serve at least three times in the match, although she needed two attempts to serve out the match in the end to advance after one and a half hours of play.

In the victory, Keys hit 4 aces and did not account for a double fault. She landed 65% of first serves in play and won 73% of first serve points (29/40). Keys won 68% of second serve points (15/22) and was only broken once in the match. Before this round, Keys had rolled past Wang Xinyu 7-6, 6-1. Keys has reached the semifinals in at least one grass court tournament in each of the last three years. She improves to 21-9 for the season and will look to reach her second semifinal of 2026.

Jessica Pegula won her opening match at the Berlin Open on Wednesday, dismissing wily Czech Katerina Siniakova in straight sets. The number three seed dominated the first set, breaking Siniakova’s serve twice and clinching it 6-2 after 45 minutes. Pegula needed six set points to close out the set. The second set was competitive and Pegula managed to get the decisive break in the fifth game. It was enough to seal a 6-2, 6-4 win.

In the victory, Pegula hit 2 aces and 3 double faults. She landed 51% of first serves in play and won 76% of first serve points (26/34). Pegula won 61% of second serve points (20/33) and saved all eight break points she faced in the match. After losing back-to-back matches, Pegula has picked up her first match win since early May. She improves to 29-7 for the season.

Madison Keys vs Jessica Pegula Head-To-Head

Keys and Pegula have met four times and the head-to-head is locked at 2-2. Pegula famously beat Keys earlier this year at the Australian Open to end her title defense. This quarterfinal match at the Berlin Open will be their first meeting on grass courts.

Madison Keys vs Jessica Pegula Prediction

These two know each other very well. Apart from being podcast hosts, they have met four times on tour and it’s an evenly poised head-to-head at 2-2. Keys has struck the ball cleanly this week at the Berlin Open and has looked more dangerous than Pegula through the first two rounds (Pegula obviously had to play just one match as a seed). If Keys can maintain that level, she has the weapons to keep Pegula on the defensive. I expect a high-quality match and I’m leaning toward Keys.

Nur Said's Pick: Keys in three sets
