Lois Boisson vs Julia Grabher meet in the first round of the 2025 Hamburg Open. The match is scheduled for Monday, July 14. Here’s our Lois Boisson vs Julia Grabher prediction. This preview will also include a Lois Boisson vs Julia Grabher pick.
Lois Boisson vs Julia Grabher Preview
Lois Boisson is returning to the main draw after a disappointing Wimbledon qualifying exit. The Frenchwoman made waves at this year’s French Open when she reached the semifinals as a wild card. Boisson knocked out two Top 10 players (Jessica Pegula and Mirra Andreeva) during that seismic run, and defeated equally capable players on clay like Elise Mertens and Anhelina Kalinina before she lost to eventual champion Coco Gauff. Boisson was not offered a main draw wild card for Wimbledon despite the historic feat she pulled off in Paris. She could not access the Wimbledon main draw with her initial ranking before the French Open and the sign-up period had lapsed by the time she broke into the Top 100.
But she is getting a wild card for the Hamburg Open this week, and she will be the fifth seed. This will be her first appearance at the event. Boisson has put together a 21-7 record on clay this season. Putsid that French Open run, Boisson made the finals of two ITF tournaments and lifted one title at the W60 Saint-Gaudens. She last featured at the Bastad Open in Sweden, where she beat countrywoman Chloe Paquet to return to winning ways, but lost immediately after to Darja Semenistaja.
Julia Grabher is ranked 139th in the WTA rankings. She is a former Top 60 player. The Austrian is making her second appearance at the Hamburg Open. She was knocked out in the last 16 during her previous visit two years ago. Grabher is 29-7 on clay this season as she continues to work her way into the Top 100 again following an injury-riddled 2024 season. Grabher has done a lot of winning on the ITF Tour, lifting three titles at that level this year and making two more finals and finishing as a runner-up. Grabher is currently on a three-match losing streak, with her last match win coming in mid-June in Grado, Italy. Her last WTA match win was in Miami in March.

Lois Boisson vs Julia Grabher Prediction
I’ll lean with the overs here. Boisson was the talk of the town at the French Open after that amazing run. Clay remains her best surface and she’ll be delighted to return to play on it and get her confidence in check. But Grabher is having a resurgent season, dropping to the ITF level in order to become a Top 100 player again. She is hard to beat on clay too, and the Austrian loves to play longer points. Boisson might have to dig deep, so this looks to have at least 20 or more games.
