Learner Tien vs Miomir Kecmanovic Preview
Learner Tien is competing at the Delray Beach Open for a second time. Last year, he reachedthe last 16 on his debut with a straight sets win over Adam Walton before bowing out at the hands of Matteo Arnaldi. The Next Gen champion has opened the new season with a 6-4 record, reaching his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open and rising to a new career high ranking of World No. 23. In his first tournament since leaving Melbourne, Tien lost his opening match at the Dallas Open this past week on indoor hard courts to the dangerous Marin Cilic. The 20-year-old lost in two tights and has now lost his past two matches. The last time he lost three matches in a row was in May 2025 on clay.
Miomir Kecmanovic is the defending champion in Delray after he sensationally won the title last year by saving match points in the final. The Serbian’s title defense is off to the perfect start as he downed World No. 109 Mattia Bellucci of Italy in straight sets. Their match took 17 games to decide.
Kecmanovic took just 23 minutes to wrap up the first set 6-1, breaking Bellucci twice and holding to love in the final game of the set. The second set stayed on serve for the first six games before Kecmanovic got the break in the seventh game. The Serbian secured two more holds of serve to clinch the set 6-4.
In the victory, Kecmanovic hit 13 winners and 9 unforced errors. That included 3 aces and 1 double fault. Kecmanovic landed 64% of first serves in play and won 85% of first serve points (23/27). Kecmanovic won 87% of second serve points (13/15). He did not face a break point in the whole match.
