Xiyu Wang won her opening match on Monday, having beaten American qualifier Hina Inoue in straight sets. Just like Boulter, Wang didn’t spend a lot of time on the court needing an hour and forty-five minutes, although a huge chunk of that was spent in winning that second set in a tiebreak.

Katie Boulter vs Xiyu Wang Prediction
Boulter fell to a shock defeat in Tokyo against Kenin, but before that played a blinder in her three matches this past week. She was in game mode in her opening win in Hong Kong and if we read too much into that, we can see the Briton putting Wang to the sword. The Chinese player certainly has the power to outmuscle Boulter, but she lacks consistency to sustain that level of aggression against top players.
