Top seed Jannik Sinner will face surprise qualifier Terence Atmane in the semifinal of the 2025 Cincinnati Open. The match is scheduled for Saturday, August 16. Here’s our Jannik Sinner vs Terence Atmane prediction. This preview will also include a Jannik Sinner vs Terence Atmane pick.
Jannik Sinner vs Terence Atmane Preview
Jannik Sinner is coming off another masterful straight-sets win to reach yet another ATP quarterfinal. The defending champion earned his first win in three meetings against Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime. Sinner took the first set 6-0 in 27 minutes, losing only two points on his first serve and committing six unforced errors. While he did give away two games in the second set, victory was assured, with Sinner running rampant to record a 6-0, 6-2.
Sinner finished the match with seven winners and 12 unforced errors. He benefited greatly from Auger-Aliassime’s 28 unforced errors in the match. The top seed hit two aces and two double faults. He landed 59% of first serves in play and won 78% of first serve points (18/23). Sinner won 63% of second serve points (10/16). He only faced one break point in the match. Before this, Sinner had defeated Daniel Elahi Galan, Gabriel Diallo, and Adrian Mannarino. He has not lost a set in the tournament so far.
Terence Atmane is the story of the 2025 Cincinnati Open, with the Frenchman ranked 136th at the start of the tournament and coming through a couple of qualifying matches to reach the main draw, delivering quite possibly the best run by a qualifier at a major tournament this season. Atmane’s run has been seriously impressive, highlighted by wins over Flavio Cobolli and Brazilian wunderkind Joao Fonseca. He has since upset two Top 10 players, including American No. 1 Taylor Fritz.
Atmane is coming off a straight-sets win over World No. 9 Holger Rune. The match took 17 games to decide and lasted an hour and 15 minutes. Atmane hit 21 winners and 18 unforced errors in the victory. That included seven aces and three double faults. Atmane landed 62% of first serves in play and won 85% of first serve points (28/33). He won 40% of second serve points (8/20) and saved one of two break points. This is his first-ever semifinal at this level.

Jannik Sinner vs Terence Atmane Prediction
Atmane has had a breathtaking run in this tournament and will deservedly make his Top 100 debut after reaching his first-ever ATP Masters semifinal. But Sinner is the benchmark of excellence and remorseless hitting, with the Italian possessing an unstained hard-court record this season (11-0) and has not been beaten on this surface in nearly a year, laying waste to what is thrown at him. Barring a major miracle of seismic proportions, Sinner should make light work of the qualifier.
