Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic face off in the Wimbledon semifinals on Friday, July 10th. It’s the second year in a row they are meeting at this stage in this tournament. Sinner breezed past the Serb in straight sets on his way to the title last year, but faces a different challenger altogether this time. Here’s our Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic prediction. This preview will include a Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic pick.

Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic Preview

Jannik Sinner defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets to keep his title defense alive. But the match was far from straightforward, with Sinner edging out Struff 7-5, 7-6 in the first two sets and having to save a set point late in the second before prevailing 7-5, 7-6, 6-3 in two hours and 37 minutes.

In the victory, Sinner hit 32 winners and 26 unforced errors, including 16 aces and 2 double faults. Sinner landed 65% of first serves in play and won 84% of first serve points (59/70). Sinner won 50% of second serve points (19/38) and saved one of two break points in the match. This is his third semifinal at Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic, meanwhile, won the longest quarterfinal in Wimbledon history after five hours and 15 minutes. He beat Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-6(10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6[10-4] to reach an eighth Wimbledon semifinal in a row. At 39, Djokovic is the oldest Wimbledon semifinalist in more than half a century.

In the victory, Djokovic hit 43 winners and 47 unforced errors. Djokovic hammered 14 aces and 6 double faults. He landed 73% of first serves in play and won 73% of first serve points (94/128). Djokovic won 64% of second serve points (30/47) and saved two of four break points. Djokovic is attempting to win a record-equaling 8th Wimbledon and an outright record of 25 Slams this week, but must overcome his biggest hurdle to reach the final.

Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic Head-To-Head

Sinner and Djokovic have met 11 times. Sinner leads the head-to-head 6-5. Sinner defeated Djokovic five times in a row between the Davis Cup Finals in 2023 and last year’s Wimbledon. Djokovic eventually narrowed the deficit at this year’s Australian Open, rolling back the years to beat the Italian in five sets.

Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic Prediction

From his interview back at the Australian Open, Djokovic didn’t view this matchup as an impossible challenge. He stated that it would be difficult. That said, one potentially crucial factor that could favor Djokovic is that he gets two days of recovery after that brutal five-hour quarterfinal against Auger-Aliassime, which will surely deplete his tank. In Melbourne, he needed that extra rest time with a walkover and a retirement and he went on to defeat Sinner. I’m never one to write off Djokovic, so getting the Serbian at +350 odds on grass is massive value.
