Jannik Sinner and Jiri Lehecka meet in the third round of the 2025 French Open at Roland Garros. The match is scheduled for Saturday, May 31. Here’s our Jannik Sinner vs Jiri Lehecka prediction. This preview will also include a Jannik Sinner vs Jiri Lehecka pick.
Jannik Sinner Preview
Top seed Jannik Sinner defeated retiring Richard Gasquet to reach the third round of the French Open. There were a lot of emotions on the eve and during the match, but there was no sentimentality from Sinner once the match was underway. The Italian put in a professional performance against the World No. 166.
Sinner won the first set 6-3 in 40 minutes, breaking Gasquet once. In the second set, Sinner’s powerful ball striking was too much for the French veteran to contain and he blitzed the set 6-0 in 31 minutes. The third set was a lot more competitive, and Sinner got a late break in the 10th game and served for it to 15. It’s the second straight set win from Sinner this week. He also beat a Frenchman in his opening round. Sinner improves to 7-1 on clay this season and has a 14-1 record on all surfaces since the start of the season. He can reach the second week at Roland Garros for the fifth time in his career.
Jiri Lehecka Preview
Jiri Lehecka entered the 2025 French Open unseeded. He is the 34th-ranked player on the ATP Tour and just missed out on a seeding berth for the tournament. Lehecka, therefore, had the toughest draw imaginable. He started the tournament with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 win against Australia’s Jordan Thompson. That was only his second career win at Roland Garros.
In the second round, Lehecka met 26th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The Czech took the first set 6-3, and Fokina responded to level the match at one set all in the second set. In the third set, Lehecka made a fast start, breaking the Spaniard to take a 3-0 lead. He broke for a second time to lead 5-1 and served to love to win the set 6-1. In the fourth set, Lehecka dropped only two games in a match where he racked up 12 aces and 39 winners in total.
Jannik Sinner vs Jiri Lehecka Head-To-Head
Sinner and Lehecka have shared the court three times before. Sinner leads the head-to-head 3-0 and hasn’t lost a set to the Czech. This will be their first meeting on clay at the Tour level.
Jannik Sinner vs Jiri Lehecka Prediction
Sinner is the favorite with the oddsmakers here at -1250, but Lehecka is not a pushover. The Czech has been averaging at least three games per set in all matches he’s played against Sinner in the head-to-head, but that won’t mean much in the grand scheme of things. Sinner is the steadier, more complete, and more composed player to get this done in straight sets. It will probably be competitive for a fleeting moment before Sinner runs away with it.
