Francisco Cerundolo will face Alexander Blockx in the fourth round of the 2026 US Open on Monday, September 7. Here’s our Francisco Cerundolo vs Alexander Blockx prediction. This preview will include a Francisco Cerundolo vs Alexander Blockx pick.

Francisco Cerundolo vs Alexander Blockx Preview

Francisco Cerundolo knocked out ninth seed and former finalist Taylor Fritz in five sets to reach the fourth round of the US Open for the first time. Cerundolo trailed by two sets to love, but produced a memorable comeback to stun the American 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in three hours and 42 minutes.

In the victory, Cerundolo hit 41 winners which was at least four more than Fritz. He committed 54 unforced errors in the match. Cerundolo hit 10 aces and 9 double faults. The Argentine landed 61% of first serves in play and won 81% of first serve points (69/85). Cerundolo won 33% of second serve points (18/55) and saved 7 of 12 break points in the match.

Alexander Blockx has reached the last 16 at the US Open on his main draw debut. Blockx is coming off a four-set win over French Open finalist Flavio Cobolli in the last round. Blockx lost a 54-minute first set in a tiebreak, but dropped a combined six games in the next three sets to turn the match around.

In the victory, Blockx fired 41 winners and 30 unforced errors, including 17 aces and 4 double faults. Blockx landed 57% of first serves in play and won 86% of first serve points (48/56). Blockx won 62% of second serve points (26/42) and saved 5 of 7 break points on his serve. Before this round, the Belgian defeated Barrios Vera and Marco Trungelliti.

Francisco Cerundolo vs Alexander Blockx Prediction

Cerundolo is the underdog here, which is slightly surprising. Yes, there’s been some hype around Blockx, and the potential is there. He’s produced some solid performances in his last two slams and was impressive in downing Cobolli. But Cerundolo is coming off one of the best wins of his career over Taylor Fritz, and that comeback wasn’t some fluke. He repeatedly moved Fritz around with his forehand and found the backhand when it mattered. I think Cerundolo can make Blockx play several balls with that heavy forehand and espcially if the Belgian has an off day on his serve. I’d happily back Cerundolo at +130.
