World No. 3 Coco Gauff will face World No. 19 Karolina Muchova in the fourth round of the 2026 Australian Open. The match is scheduled for Sunday, January 25. Here’s our Coco Gauff vs Karolina Muchova prediction. This preview will also include a Coco Gauff vs Karolina Muchova pick.

Coco Gauff vs Karolina Muchova Preview

Coco Gauff has reached the fourth round of the Australian Open for the fourth consecutive season, although she needed a three-set win over compatriot Hailey Baptiste in the last round. After two straight-set wins to begin the tournament, Gauff trailed Baptiste when she lost the opening set of their third-round match in 41 minutes. But a second set fightback saw the World No. 3 record a clean 6-0 set before she prevailed with the lone break in the third set.

Gauff did not account for any aces but tallied 6 double faults in the victory. She landed 66% of first serves in play and won 83% of first serve points (33/40). Gauff won 48% of second serve points (10/21) and saved one of three break points in the match. Before this round, Gauff had beaten Kamilla Rakhimova 6-2, 6-3 and Olga Danilovic 6-2, 6-2. Her best result at the Australian Open was reaching the semifinals in 2024.

Karolina Muchova is enjoying her best run at the Australian Open in five years. The Czech is coming off a comprehensive straight-sets win over former semifinalist Magda Linette that took 14 games to decide. Muchova easily dispatched the Pole 6-1, 6-1 in an hour and 3 minutes. In the victory, Muchova hit 15 winners and 15 unforced errors. She landed 55% of first serves in play and won an impressive 90% of first serve points (19/21). Muchova won 59% of second serve points (10/17) and saved the one break point she faced in the match.

Before the win over Linette, Muchova saw off Jaqueline Cristian in the opening round in straight sets, and Alycia Parks in three sets. Muchova’s best result in Melbourne was a semifinal finish in 2021. She hadn’t gone beyond the second round after that, until this year.

Coco Gauff vs Karolina Muchova Head-To-Head

Gauff and Muchova have met four times at tour level. Gauff holds a 4-0 record against the Czech, with all four meetings coming on hard courts. Gauff has also won all eight sets between them.

Coco Gauff vs Karolina Muchova Prediction

I can’t look past Coco in this match. Yes, Muchova brings that familiar artistry and crisp shotmaking, but Gauff has almost every answer to the Czech’s shot selection, winning all eight sets they contested on hard courts. Unless there is a drastic drop in level from the American, she should be primed to make the quarterfinals.

Nur Said's Pick: Coco Gauff in three sets
