2023 champion Coco Gauff will face rising star Iva Jovic in the fourth round of the 2026 US Open. The match is scheduled for Monday, September 7. Here’s our Coco Gauff vs Iva Jovic prediction. This preview will include a Coco Gauff vs Iva Jovic pick.

Coco Gauff vs Iva Jovic Preview

Coco Gauff defeated Cristina Bucsa in straight sets in the last round. Bucsa briefly led in the opening set when she broke Gauff at 2-1, but the American hit back and restored the break in the sixth game. Gauff won three more games to seal the set 6-3. In the second set, Gauff broke Bucsa twice and held to love in the 10th to complete a straight sets win.

In the victory, Gauff hit 15 winners and 28 unforced errors. Gauff landed 49% of first serves in play and won 74% of first serves points (20/27). She won 57% of second serve points (16/28) and saved 1 of 3 break points on serve. Gauff earned wins over Zeynep Sonmez and Paula Badosa before this round. This is the fifth year in a row she has made the second week of the US Open.

Iva Jovic won a dramatic three set match against Alexandra Eala to reach the fourth round of the US Open for the first time. The first set took 63 minutes, featuring seven breaks of serve. Jovic earned the decisive break in the 11th game and held to love to win the set 7-5. Eala responded by breaking Jovic at least three times in another seesaw set, and won it 6-3. Despite saving a match point on serve at 4-5 down, Eala could not hold in the 11th game, and Jovic broke to seal a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 victory.

Jovic hit 44 winners and committed 27 unforced errors in the match. She landed 59% of first serves in play and won 61% of first serve points (38/62). Jovic won 42% of second serve points (18/43) and saved 12 of 20 break points in the match.

Coco Gauff vs Iva Jovic Head-To-Head

Coco Gauff and Iva Jovic met at this year’s Italian Open, where Gauff rallied from a set and break down to win in three sets. Gauff also saved a match point during the contest. It remains their only WTA meeting before this.

Coco Gauff vs Iva Jovic Prediction

It’s probably the most exciting fourth round match at this year’s US Open. Gauff brings some serious pedigree as a former champion and a current top 10 player. That said, this isn’t exactly a situation where Coco will overwhelm an inexperienced opponent. Jovic is playing well above her ranking and is punching above her weight this season. I’ll still lean Gauff. I think her defense and backhand are particularly useful against Jovic. Jovic likes to take the ball early, and if Coco forces her to hit aggressively on most shots, that’s where Jovic might falter.

Nur Said's Pick: Gauff in three sets
