Belinda Bencic is one of three Top 20 players taking part in the World Tennis Continental Cup. Bencic is coming off a great 2025 season in which she returned to the tour after maternity leave and enjoyed an incredible year. From being ranked outside the top 400, Bencic finished the season at No. 11 after picking up WTA 500 titles in Abu Dhabi and Tokyo, and headlined a second Grand Slam semifinal of her career at Wimbledon.
Those accomplishments earned her a nomination for the WTA’s Comeback Player of the Year award, in which Bencic eventually was announced as the winner. The Swiss will look to build on that successful year at the United Cup in early January. But before that, she will get at least a couple of matches under her belt at the World Tennis Continental Cup.
Xinyu Wang is the home crowd favorite in Shenzhen. With current Chinese No. 1 Qinwen Zheng out of action after undergoing elbow surgery, Wang is the highest-ranked home player taking part at the World Tennis Continental Cup exhibition tournament.
Wang is ranked 57th in the WTA rankings, but she has been as high as 32nd in the past. The 24-year-old compiled 25 wins and 25 losses in 2025. Her best result was most certainly her run to the Berlin Open final as a qualifier, where she defeated four Top 20 players in the main draw, including World No. 3 and reigning French Open champion Coco Gauff. Wang also made three semifinals on hard courts, with her most recent one coming at the Cleveland Open in late August.
