Ben Shelton vs Denis Shapovalov Preview
Ben Shelton reached his second semifinal in Dallas with a three-set victory against Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic. Shelton surprisingly dropped the first set after getting broken in the 11th game and Kecmanovic made no mistake in serving for the set in the subsequent game to win it 7-5. But an early break at the start of the second set set the tone for Shelton’s comeback win. He broke Kecmanovic for a 2-0 lead and consolidated that advantage before sealing the set 6-3. Shelton once again secured the decisive break early in the third set and made sure of victory by holding in each of his service games for the rest of the match.
Shelton hit 41 winners in total and accounted for 37 unforced errors. He won 92% of first serve points (59/64) and saved one of two break points in the match. Shelton was a semifinalist in Dallas on his debut two seasons ago and will look to reach his first final of 2026 after two quarterfinal finishes in his last two events.
