Ben Shelton and Denis Shapovalov meet in the second semifinal at the 2026 Dallas Open. The match is scheduled for Saturday, February 14. Here’s our Ben Shelton vs Denis Shapovalov prediction. This preview will also include a Ben Shelton vs Denis Shapovalov pick.

Ben Shelton vs Denis Shapovalov Preview

Ben Shelton reached his second semifinal in Dallas with a three-set victory against Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic. Shelton surprisingly dropped the first set after getting broken in the 11th game and Kecmanovic made no mistake in serving for the set in the subsequent game to win it 7-5. But an early break at the start of the second set set the tone for Shelton’s comeback win. He broke Kecmanovic for a 2-0 lead and consolidated that advantage before sealing the set 6-3. Shelton once again secured the decisive break early in the third set and made sure of victory by holding in each of his service games for the rest of the match.

Shelton hit 41 winners in total and accounted for 37 unforced errors. He won 92% of first serve points (59/64) and saved one of two break points in the match. Shelton was a semifinalist in Dallas on his debut two seasons ago and will look to reach his first final of 2026 after two quarterfinal finishes in his last two events.

Denis Shapovalov has surprised many with his deep run in Dallas, with the Canadian posting a three-set win over Davidovich Fokina in almost two hours of play. Shapovalov also secured a comeback victory after dropping the first set 7-5. He won the next two sets without getting broken. He prevailed 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Shapovalov hit 40 winners to 39 unforced errors, including 17 aces and 2 double faults. He landed 61% of first serves in play and won 76% of first serve points (41/54).

Shapovalov won 60% of second serve points (21/35) and saved two of three break points. Shapovalov is the defending champion in Dallas and had won his previous two matches in straight sets against Rafael Jodar and Aleksandar Kovacevic, turning his win-loss record in 2026 to 4-3.

Ben Shelton vs Denis Shapovalov Head-To-Head

Shelton and Shapovalov have met three times and the American won all three matches between them stemming from the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. Shelton won their last two in straight sets.

Ben Shelton vs Denis Shapovalov Prediction

Shapovalov’s form can be excruciatingly tough to read and make a reliable assessment, but when he is on, the Canadian has the talent to beat anybody on his day. That appears to be the case this week as Shapovalov cruised in his opening two matches and was flawless for two sets against Davidovich Fokina. That said, I still fancy Shelton, who holds a perfect record against him, and Shapovalov’s volatility will always lurk in his matches. Shelton’s efficient power and clutch serving give him a narrow edge.

Nur Said's Pick: Ben Shelton in three sets
