Denis Shapovalov faces Fabian Marozsan in the second round of the 2026 ATP Munich Open. The match is scheduled for Thursday, April 16. Here’s our Denis Shapovalov vs Fabian Marozsan prediction. This preview will also include a Denis Shapovalov vs Fabian Marozsan pick.

Denis Shapovalov vs Fabian Marozsan Preview

Denis Shapovalov snapped a three-match losing streak in the first round of the Munich Open. Shapovalov beat Tallon Griekspoor in three sets. The match took 27 games to decide. Shapovalov prevailed 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in two hours and 4 minutes. The manner of Shapovalov’s recovery during the match, especially in that third set, was particularly encouraging as the Canadian registered a first tour level victory since Indian Wells in early March.

In the victory, Shapovalov fired 32 winners to 32 unforced errors. Shapovalov accounted for 3 aces and 6 double faults. He landed 59% of first serves in play and won 65% of first serve points (31/48). Shapovalov won 62% of second serve points (21/34) and saved three of six break points. Shapovalov won 42% of return points in the match (36/85). This was also his first win in the tournament.

Fabian Marozsan extended Stefanos Tsitsipas’ misery at tour level. The Hungarian beat the struggling Greek from a set down to reach the second round of the Munich Open. It looked like Tsitsipas had turned a corner when he won the first set comfortably with two breaks of serve, and had a match point late in the second set. But Marozsan saved a match point on his serve and forced a tiebreak.

In the tiebreak, Marozsan established a 6-2 lead and although it took him four tries, he converted a set point to level the match. The third set stayed on serve until the 10th game. Marozsan broke to secure a huge win over the former World No. 3. Marozsan hit 23 winners and 35 unforced errors in the match. He won 78% of first serve points (46/59) and saved three of five break points.

Denis Shapovalov vs Fabian Marozsan Head-To-Head

Shapovalov and Marozsan have never met, so this will be their first career meeting.

Denis Shapovalov vs Fabian Marozsan Prediction

Marozsan is 4-2 on clay while Shapovalov posted just his first win on the surface. But that won’t necessarily matter. Look, it’s always a sweat with Shapovalov, banking on him to win two matches in a tournament, but when the Canadian is on, he’s got the game to hit through almost anyone on the court. And the victory over Griekspoor showed some fight.

Nur Said's Pick: Denis Shapovalov in three sets
